It is with sadness that we write of the passing of Charlie Martin
It is with sadness that we write of the passing of Charlie Martin, from County Longford. Charlie was a big supporter of DTL and a great competitor himself. The words of HP athlete Derek Burnett express the character of Charlie better than we ever could:
'Charlie was a life long friend that brought me to many a registered DTL shoot in my early years. He was a determined competitor that gave it his all, a trait he learned well on the football pitch before his shooting career. Charlie's first time to wear the green blazer for Ireland on the DTL team was in 1986 in Bywell. The following year 1987, he achieved his best International result in Ashbourne, by winning 2nd High Gun of Ireland. Charlie was very proud of his achievement but due to his modest nature no one but those present would ever know about it. Rest In Peace Charlie, you will be greatly missed by all that knew you.'
The ICTSA extend their deepest sympathies to Charlie's family and friends, and the wider shooting community.
